Sailmate and Dom are individual brands with an unique and different style, but our values bring us close. That’s what makes the fusion of both brands very exciting. We believe in strong collaborations and that mixing up ideas creates newness and fashion. We share the same values when it comes to sustainability, diversity and our local approach.
Dom Amsterdam created their iconic fanny pack. They have a huge variety and all of them are made of fabric waste, which makes creates endless new looks. Upcycling is something Sailmate and Dom share and that’s why we created a fanny pack of used sails. We see inspiration around us and working with preused materials is part of it. Our materials carry stories and are ready for new experiences.
Beside the fabric approach we have more in common. Same as SAILMATE Dom is producing with Makers Unite a social responsible enterprise that integrates newcomers/refugees through their manufacturing. A fair and local production is meaningful for both brands and creates another connection. In general both brands stand for a cultural mix. Zheng from Dom bags has Chinese roots and is born and raised in the Netherlands. While Anna from Sailmate is a German sailor, who stranded in the Netherlands. Both our brands are born in Amsterdam. Having a local approach is another value that Dom and Sailmate share. Amsterdam is a melting pot of cultures and ideas. Both brands are founded here and rooted to this place and it’s vibes.
